Charles Stanton is the newest addition to the Houston Masterworks staff and is pleased to be counted among the many other avid music lovers and musicians within the organization. Charles remains active as a performer, director, and educator and holds the Master of Music degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Bachelor of Music degree from Wingate University as well as additional advanced studies in voice in the studio of renowned vocal pedagogue, Richard Miller.
Charles continued his studies in Mannheim, Germany with artists and coaches of the Mannheim City Opera. While there, he studied and performed six principal roles as well as several considerable main stage roles with the City Opera. Charles has been a guest artist with Opera Carolina, Long Leaf Opera, Greensboro Opera, Central Piedmont Opera, Piedmont Opera, Chattanooga Opera, Newberry Opera, Atlanta Opera, Mannheim City Opera, Annapolis Opera, Granite State Opera, Boston Opera Collaborative and the esteemed Handel and Haydn Society and Dartmouth Handel Society. Engagements over the last few years have afforded Charles the opportunity to perform eleven world debuts of new works as well as several appearances in the standard repertoire. In addition to maintaining an active performance schedule, Charles has served as the Director of Opera at Old Dominion University and as Lecturer of Voice and Director of Opera Workshop at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH. Charles currently divides his time between HMC, a private studio and performing.
